Archibald Muir was a member of Ashlar Lodge No. 3 who died, aged 53, in the Esplanade No. 1 mine explosion on 3 May 1887.
He was Initiated in Nanaimo Lodge No. 1090 in 1867, aged 36. Nanaimo Lodge No. 1090 records show residence: Nanaimo, occupation: Miner; Initiated in Nanaimo Lodge, No. 1090 on 3 July 1867, Passed 31 July 1867, Raised 20 September 1867.
Archibald Muir was also a Charter Member of Caledonia Lodge No. 478, Grand Lodge of Scotland.
Here are photos of Archibald Muir’s grave in Bowen Road Cemetery, Nanaimo. His son Joseph Edward Lewis Muir (1875-1963), also a member of Ashlar Lodge No. 3, is buried alongside him.
